LiftOff is the finale of the NDRC LaunchPad programme. 15 digital startups pitch their now-marketable products/ideas to a room of investors after an intense 3-month period of mentoring and iteration. Each LiftOff event is the showcase of this work, with approximately 100 investors in attendance there to view the startup teams pitching their business ideas and competing for funding. The event is covered internationally by various newspapers and online journals.
LiftOff Seven was my final LiftOff for NDRC LaunchPad. Over the three years I was In-house Designer for LaunchPad I had watched the programme's reputation grow and gain worldwide recognition & praise. At every round of applications, there would be more and more people applying and this year NDRC LaunchPad was voted #4 StartUp Accelerator Worldwide by the UBI Index.
Keeping all this in mind, I decided to play up LaunchPad's increasing 'cult-like' status and I settled on a tongue-in-cheek religious theme for the event. As I'm most familiar with Irish Catholicism, I used well known visual cues and ideas from the bible (embellishment, illuminated manuscripts, bible verses, commandments...etc...), but with a minimal/digital aesthetic...more 'tech' (considering the industry!).
